I need to apologise in advance because this blog post is just a little bit indulgent on my part.  Today (January 27th 2011), Ray and I celebrate 15 years of our marriage.  We were so young.. barely in our twenties and we thought we knew enough about life and love to go and get married!  I don't look back at that day with any regret, only happiness and a great deal of thankfulness.  I am thankful that God has had His hand upon our marriage from the very start and that our choices have proven to be blessed.  When we promised on our wedding day to love and cherish, in sickness and in health.. to be honest, we had no idea what that would be like.  We had no clue the depth of pain we would experience; the intense fear we would go through.  We had stars in our eyes and probably thought the worst it would get was a bad flu and we would bring Chicken soup and a tender word to cheer eachother up.

Clearly life has taken us places we never dreamed we would visit; physically, emotionally, spiritually, geographically.. we have been stretched beyond ourselves and have had to plunge deep into the secure arms of God many times.  I thank God for my husband.  Ray has been a rock through every storm we have faced, lovingly supporting, enduring, encouraging and forgiving.  He leads our family spiritually and is a wonderful father to our kids.  He is pretty fantastic but at the end of the day, I know where his strength comes from, so all the glory goes back to God.  When I married him, I hoped  but didn't really know he was capable of all this, but God did and I thank Him for what He has done and continues to do in his life.

So this is my (slightly indulgent), heartfelt message to my man.  (the perfect gift is hard to come by here!)  I want to say more than 'Happy Anniversary'.  I want to say thank you for being my  best friend; for giving me the best 15 years of my life and for our 3 fantastic kids.  I love you; I am so very proud of you and I hope to chase dreams with you for many more years to come.

Gav and I were married so young too, thinking we knew all we needed to know about each other! I have no regrets either, just a very thankful heart that God has grown us together. We've been married for 14 years and I can honestly say they have been happy.

God is good!

Happy Anniversary to you guys.

Congratulations Trish & Ray. 15 years...awesome! The Lord bless you both richly & abundantly as you celebrate this day, along with each & every new day and all that it will bring.

Like fresh clay, you have allowed God to shape & mould you into the wonderful couple you are who seeks to serve God first & foremost. Be encouraged in your walk with the Lord. He is not done with us yet!
