It is amazing to think it's been 2 weeks since my last blog post.  As I read over my last piece, it occurs to me how almost all my hopes that I had for the New Year have been challenged in some way over the past 2 weeks.  We returned home from spending a lovely Christmas and New Year in Kompiam with my sister and her family, to having to deal with disappointment relating to staff issues in the Office and then we heard news that a serious incident had occurred in Kompiam and all outside staff were evacuating.  In a place like this, none of these issues are small and quickly resolved and often they carry with them an undertone of being of a spiritual nature in opposition to the good work being done.

In all this though, I believe I have proved something.  I wrote about being thankful in ALL things and looking to Him as the source of my hope and strength.  Well this situation in Kompiam is very serious.  It has the potential to see 11 years of dedicated hard work and progress come undone, but I can't shake this feeling of hope and expectancy in my spirit.  I believe that God is at work here and He has plans for that place that aren't finished yet and this current situation, as bad and disappointing as it is, is all part of the plan.. His plan for ultimate blessing.  I am thankful, not for the unrest and trouble in itself but for what God has planned to do through it.. what he is going to teach us all and ultimately accomplish there.  A thankful heart does bring peace.. a peace that doesn't make any sence to those looking on because the circumstances dictate otherwise.

Philipians 4:4-7  Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which trancends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

It is so true.. thank you God!
